CATEGORY: Angst, Hetero Erotica.
PAIRING: Logan (Wolverine) / Jean Grey (Phoenix)
RATING: NC-17 for “foul” language, graphic sex, and heavy violence. If you like “angst fest” with a dash of humor, this is your fic.
WARNING: Pretty much covered by the rating on this story. Some dub-con (dubious consent) is implied, but is largely off-screen. It’s Wolverine, so it gets very bloody.
SUMMARY: Logan and Jean on a solo adventure. The shadow of Cyclops still hangs between them as they struggle to survive in a world much more suited to Logan’s brutal nature than Jean’s reasoning mind. She must deal with his violent nature and he must deal with keeping them both alive. In the midst of it all, they struggle with the long felt want between them – the love Logan would openly declare if she allowed it and the lust for him she fights to deny.
TIMELINE: This story occurs after Uncanny X-Men #392 – 394 and before (as well as during) Grant Morrison’s New X-Men titles, # 135 – 141. This story runs concurrent with my Sabretooth tale, “Redemption” and my Doctor Octopus tale, “Of Dreams and Dust”, though both Logan’s and Doc Ock’s stories will be chronologically done before “Redemption” is.
NOTES: Logan and Jean Grey are members of the super hero team, the X-Men. They are both mutants. Jean is a telepath and telekinetic, second only to Charles Xavier in telepathic ability. Logan has a mutant healing factor, heightened senses, unbreakable adamantium-coated bones and foot-long adamantium claws, three on each hand. He is also a master of most forms of offense and defense ever invented. She is logical, he is visceral; but these two opposites have always been attracted to each other from the moment they met, and she has fought it from the next moment after that. If you haven’t read any Marvel Comics or seen the X-Men movies, you might be a little lost, but I’ll try to keep it enjoyable for non-Wolviephiles too. Also a warning for fanatic fans of Wolverine and the X-Men, or maybe an apology: I have been attempting to catch up with the canon events in comics, and recent research has led me to make some changes, mostly where Magneto is concerned. If I’ve still missed anything vital from recent history, please forgive me in advance. Beyond Cyclops having recently returned from his presumed death, and a new strain being evident in his and Jean’s marriage, I can’t mention what else has gone on lately (thanks to my recent reading spree), without getting into story spoilers. Canon will be bent here and there, but I usually try to keep things as grounded as possible, so that one can imagine my stories fitting between the adventures of canon events. A brief summary of recent events I’m fitting this story between can be found below under “History”.
HISTORY: Most of the X-Men have been scattered at this point, with many of them off searching for the Destiny Diaries, including Storm. During the “Eve of Destruction” storyline, a few of the X-Men and some new additions, led by Phoenix, defeated Magneto in his mutant nation of Genosha while rescuing Charles Xavier. Polaris was there, too, helping Cyclops and Wolverine rescue human refugees. At the conclusion of that story, Wolverine stabbed his claws into Magneto’s gut, putting him in critical condition. Magneto survived, in a wheelchair, and has been recovering. Later, the villain Cassandra Nova Xavier destroys Genosha with Sentinels, killing 16 million mutants. Magneto is reported dead, but he survived and has been living in the ruins. After dealing with these events, Xavier outs himself as a mutant to the world, which leads up to the events of Open Day at the Xavier School. One point where I will bend canon is with Storm. For my story, she is home at the mansion after the Eve of Destruction storyline. She can go after the Destiny Diaries with the others after Jean and Logan return home from the events in my tale.
DISCLAIMER: None of this is real, it didn’t happen. The characters (except for a handful of originals like Reece), locations, situations, terminology and history involved here, I am borrowing from Marvel Comics. All song lyrics are credited to the artists, some lyrics are abbreviated. No money has or will be made with this, unless Stan Lee lets me turn it into a novel someday.
FEEDBACK: Please post a review/comment if you enjoy the story. Also, if you have any questions or suggestions in your comment, I will respond as soon as I can here, or by email or tweet. The cover art was borrowed from Ian Churchill (the comic cover of Uncanny X-Men # 394) and spruced up for my story by my wonderful husband. Thanks for reading! – AnonGrimm (@MET_Fic)
